We are kicking off summer with a tasting that features wines perfect for sipping by the pool, backyard or beach club. Nicholas chose a combination of Nicholas Wines bestsellers as well as newly discovered winemakers from his recent trip to Burgundy.
Winemaker Richard Luftig will also be on hand to pour his Pied à Terre - Cabernet Sauvignon 2015.
These wines pair perfectly with Summer fare including fresh fish, grilled meats and seasonal vegetables. To compliment our selection of wines, hors d' oeuvres will be served.

Corzano e Paterno Il Corzanello Bianco 2018
Aljoscha Goldschimdt is the owner and winemaker of Corzano e Paterno. This picturesque estate lies in the commune of San Pancrazio, just outside of Florence. Joshi is a farmer first; his 14 hectare of pristine vineyards are organically tended and are cropped at a low yield. The Il Corzanello Bianco is a blend of six varieties, each variety adding it’s own special character to this aromatic, zippy Tuscan white. It’s intensely fruit yet fresh and mineral with a long finish. Drink all summer long with anything on your deck!
Couselo Rias Baixas Albariño 2017
The Rosal Valley is unique to the Rias Baixas D.O. It's the most coastal and the coolest of the 5 subzones that Albariño thrives in. Sitting on the Miño river which separates Spain and Portugal, Couselo’s soils contain slate which is extremely rare for the sub-zone. Acidic, well-drained soils that retain heat --- great for Albariño, lend wet-stone, saline and lemon aromatics to this elegant renditon of Albariño. Pair with Barnegat sea scallops, grilled shrimp, any flaky white fish or just by itself as the perfect aperitif.
Domaine Ricard Touraine Sauvignon Blanc Le Petiot 2018
Very old vines (the oldest being planted in 1947!) and tiny yields are the source of this extracted, vibrant Sauvignon Blanc from vineyards on the southern bank of the Cher River in the Loire Valley. Better than most Sancerre, twice its price, Le Petiot has a great depth of flavor and a viscous, satin-like texture. The finish is persistently fruity with a good dose of minerality. Pair with all types of seafood and goat cheese.
Domaine Corsin Macon Villages 2018
The 2018 Macon Villages from Giles Corsin has a pale green shine to it, with just beautiful aromas of ripe, green apple touched with a stony minerality. The mid-palate is concentrated and layered with fruit with a long finish. This is classic white Burgundy, honed and complex and just terrific at any table.
Domaine Denis Carré Auxey Duresses Blanc Les Vireux 2016
The dynamic sister and brother team of Gaetane and Martial Carré organically farm 14 hectares of vines in Meursault, Auxey Duresses, Pommard and the Haute Côtes. The 2016 is an exciting, young, white Burgundy with soaring aromatics of jasmine, honeysuckle and Anjou pear. The fruit is expansive, complex and intense, with flavors of pineapple, lemon custard and green apple, all tinged with a stony minerality that just screams for great food. It will be great next Saturday night and every other one for the next 10 years.
Weingut Keller Riesling Limestone 2018
The Keller vineyards are located at the base of the mountain Donnersberg. This area has the lowest rainfall in Germany, naturally limiting the yields. Klaus-Peter Keller’s natural farming, low yields, and non-interventive style of winemaking allows for crystalline, fruity wines that are flat-out delicious! The base Riesling comes from a number of different parcels. Vinified in tank, this bright and seamless Riesling is full of juicy peach fruit, a fine minerality, tied together by a vibrant, crisp finish.
Effet Papillon Côtes de Catalan Rosé 2018
Majorie Gallet's Effet Papillon Rosé is a bright and juicy wine, delivering high-toned flavors of strawberry and melon with plenty of extraction and length. It’s a traditional south of France blend of Grenache, Carignane and Syrah. It’s a great aperitif or pair with anything off the grill.
Sandhi Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County 2016
Raj Parr and Sashi Moorman’s Sandhi has become darling of both the critics and sommeliers in NYC, San Francisco and LA. They source from cool-climate pedigreed vineyards, like Bentrock, Rita’s Crown, and Sanford and Bendict; all of which are located on the very edge of where grapes can ripen. The vines work hard to thrive in Santa Barbara County. They don’t yield a lot of grapes but ones they do are extraordinarily good, particularly the hands of a master winemaker like Sashi. His entry level Pinot Noir is a marvel, deep and concentrated but light on its feet. It is aromatically complex, elegant and super fresh, characteristics in American Pinot Noir that are typically reserved only for those at triple this price.
Domaine Francois Raquillet Mercurey Rouge 1er cru Les Vasees 2017
Nestled amidst the limestone-laden, green hills of Mercurey, lies the 12 hectare estate of François Raquillet. Just south of Chassagne Montrachet, Mercurey in the hands of François becomes Burgundy with a much deeper level of complexity, concentration and age-worthiness than most of his peers. The combination of old vines, low yields and organic farming creates incredible aromatic complexity and a lush texture generally found only in wines with much greater price tags. The 1er cru Mercurey Rouge 2017 is the product of 60 year old vines, rooted on steep limestone slope. Vinified entirely in oak, this is juicy, berried-up Pinot Noir with a lip-smacking mineral finish that makes it absolutely perfect at any table. Pair with grilled salmon, roasted poultry and mushroom dishes.
Xavier Vignon Côtes du Rhone 100% 2015
“The 2015 Cotes du Rhone 100% packs a metaphorical ton of super ripe fruit into its effusive aromas. Black cherries are joined by more savory notes of dark chocolate, leather and spice on the palate, which is full-bodied yet supported by softly dusty tannins. The Ojai Vineyard Syrah Santa Barbara County 2016
“The 2016 Syrah (Santa Barbara County) is a delicious entry-level wine from Ojai. Fresh and light on its feet, the 2016 is beautifully nuanced from start to finish. A drop (10%) of Grenache rounds out the blend. All the elements fall into place in this overachieving wine from Ojai. The 30% whole clusters are mostly felt in the wine's mid-weight structure rather than in the flavor profile. Vineyard sources are Roll Ranch, Bien Nacido and John Sebastiano.” 91 points, Antonio Galloni
Cerbaia Rosso di Montalcino 2017
Cerbaia is a tiny estate, just 12 acres with vines were planted in the ‘70s on northeast facing parcels, rooted in the famous Montosoli calcareous soil. Elena Pellagrini's time at the estate just started in 2013. Her dad farmed the vines and made the wine for the 35 years prior but Elena is determined to raise the bar her father set. She told me that the farming hasn’t really changed at all; they’ve always worked without chemicals. But the yield is lower and the winemaking, while traditional in technique, is spotlessly clean with modern equipment. 2017 is an expressive, juicy vintage for all wines in Montalcino; few deliver such value as her Rosso di Montalcino. Her Rosso comes completely from Brunello vines, just picked a little earlier and aged a lot less. Her Rosso is fine, elegant Sangiovese with the lifted aromatic profile only possible when sourced from high elevation vineyards rooted in mineral soil. Elena’s 2017 Rosso is wildly aromatic, with bright red berries in the mouth with just the right amount of Tuscan rusticity. Pair with grilled meat or mushroom dishes.
Maurizio Lambardi Brunello di Montalcino 2013
The story of the Lambardi family - once quality farmers in a small, family-run estate in the hills of southern Tuscany, today producers of broad, elegant wines - is the story of Brunello. Invented no more than 60 years ago with the isolation of a specific clone of Sangiovese, Brunello has rapidly become a very important style of wine, fully representative of the generous flavors of Tuscany. The 2013 is a lush, heady Brunello, with complex aromas of Asian spices, red fruit and leather. The wine is deeply concentrated and posseses firm structure. This is monumental wine, from a truly artisanal producer, built to age gracefully for up to 15 years. 500 cases produced.
Château Reverdi Listrac-Medoc 2015
The vineyards of Château Reverdi are classic Medoc; old-vines planted in mineral soil. Its position in the far north the appellation, allows for long, slow ripening. The mineral soil lends complexity and structure. The 30 year-old Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot vines are farmed naturally. The wine defines the classic 2015 vintage with a deep, dark color, an enticing, forward bouquet of cedar, lead pencil and cassis, absolutely juicy fruit and a mineral backbone. Drink now-2025.
Chad Napa Valley Cabernet Blend 2016
Chad’s latest release is the 2016 Napa Valley Proprietary Red Wine. This Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, a rich, teeth-staining wine, which overdelivers on power, fruit and finish. This is juicy, but structured Cabernet, displaying the concentration and length generally found in bottles twice its price. Pair with steaks and burgers all spring and summer long.
Pied à Terre - Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
The 2015 vintage in Sonoma was the first year the drought impacted the fruit. The berries were naturally concentrated. The intense fruit produced powerful, concentrated wines. Most of the fruit was sourced from Sonoma County’s best vineyard sites, Aunt Cathy’s, Nimble and Grable representing the best that Sonoma has to offer. Ricard crafted an superb bottling of Cabernet in 2015, balancing the natural power and concentration of the vintage with the aromatic complexity, lift and energy of wines that are generally 3x the cost. Be sure to drink in a big glass to best capture the aromas of red fruit, violets and graphite. They get better with air so take your time. The fruit is layered and keeps coming on, with a supple texture and mile long finish.
